Welcome to Interpret the Word. If you are new to Bible study or simply want a clear path to begin, this page is for you. Our goal is to help you not only read the Scriptures, but also understand, apply, and delight in them. Here’s a simple way to get started.
Step 1: Begin with Prayer
Ask the Lord to open your heart and mind before you read. Prayer reminds us that the Bible is not just a book to be analyzed but the living Word of God, meant to transform us.
Step 2: Choose Your Translation
Start with a clear, faithful translation that is easy to read. We recommend the ESV, NASB, or CSB for study, and the NLT for devotional reading. You can learn more about translations here.
Step 3: Follow a Simple Reading Plan
Consistency matters more than speed. Begin with a plan that covers the New Testament twice per year and the Old Testament once per year. This keeps you rooted in Christ while building a full knowledge of God’s Word.

Step 4: Use a Study Method
Don’t just read—study. The Inductive Method is a good starting point:
Observe – What does the text say?
Interpret – What does it mean in its context?
Apply – How should I live in light of this truth?
We have a step-by-step guide and printable form you can use here.
Step 5: Keep a Journal
Write down what you learn. Even short notes on insights, prayers, and applications will deepen your engagement. Over time, your journal becomes a testimony of God’s work in your life.
